This week I tabled in the Plaza of the America’s. While of course handing out fliers for birthright, I asked students if they would like to make a card to wish IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) soldiers a Happy New Year. Although my card making set up was not the most popular program in the Plaza, I was still proud to take part in such a heart-warming project. Those that did make a card were glad to be able to bring some new year cheer to Israeli soldiers, filling their cards with messages such as “Thank you for all that you do,” “L’Shana Tova,” and other phrases.
On Thursday at the GFI (Gators for Israel) executive board meeting, and at the JSU general body meeting, we were able to create even more cards to mail to Israel.
I am looking forward to sending these cards out because I know that anything the soldiers receive make a difference and keep them strong. Because of heart-felt gifts and message they receive from grateful Jews all over the world, they continue to fight for the country that we can all call our homeland.
On that note, wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year. L’Shana Tova!
